My cousin Eva works in a nursing home in Gornji Grad. She has a good heart and a lot of positive energy.

She has been a bit hyperactive all her life, so her personal doctor suggested combining the pleasant with the useful. This gave her the idea of cycling to work. It is 17 kilometres from her home address. The country road climbs gently to Gornji Grad, so it is slightly uphill. This suits my relative very well, as she does not have to strain and pedal her bicycle on the way home from work.

We agreed that she would come to my place for coffee in the morning. About halfway through her journey - in Karst. We talk while drinking white coffee in each other's company. And we say something funny. Then she continues on her bicycle along a beautiful panoramic route. There are beautiful fields on the left and right side of the road. In spring, the eye rests on the yellow dandelion flowers. On sunny days and otherwise, our Savinja Valley is a fairytale. In autumn, with a bit of luck, you can spot a deer at dawn in Bočna.

One day, the chain of her mountain bike gave way. This happened to her - by luck or bad luck - just outside our house. She knew my husband wasn't home and I wouldn't be much help. But she found her way and asked my neighbour Jernejček, who had just gone to his barn to feed the cattle, for help.

Mr Jernej, a senior citizen, immediately responded to her request. Then Eva noticed his hands shaking violently and for a moment doubted him. He told her to wait a moment and returned with a long screwdriver. Then, despite his health problems, with a little effort he managed to return the chain to its correct position. My relative thanked him and also promised to repay him. She was both happy and sad because she had doubted him.

She knitted him wool socks and came to their house a week later. In addition to the socks, she brought him a litre of terrine. Much to the astonishment of Mr Jernej and his wife, she said, "To thank you, I have brought you terrine for your good blood, and woollen socks for your health, so that your feet won't be cold. I made them myself. seštrikala."

Jernejček, as we neighbours called him, said to Eva: "Now I have only one wish; that she would come. lie k men."

But Eva quickly found herself in the presence of his wife and, without offending him, said, "You would, you would, but you're married."

Whereupon they all laughed very heartily together.

In memory of Jernejček.

I believe in the good in people. Good deeds bear good fruit. Those who give and those who receive benefit.

Be positive in life and look for the good in all situations.

Trust and respect.
