Objective Understanding fair behaviour in the classroom.
Activity
- Conversation: Why is it important to speak the truth?
- Together, they establish 3–5 simple class rules (e.g. We tell the truth, We are not falsely accusing.Rules help us feel safe.
Foreword:
The teacher begins with a conversation:
- Pa je pomembno, da govorimo resnico?
- How do we feel when someone lies to us?
- How do we feel when someone falsely accuses us of something we haven't done?
The teacher says: »We all feel better in the classroom when we know we are fair to each other.«
MIDDLE PART
Co-design of rules
- The teacher leads a discussion and writes student suggestions on the board. Together they choose 3–5 simple rules written in a positive format.
- Examples of rules
- We tell the truth.
- We are listening to each other.
- We do not make false accusations.
- We look after each other.
- We fix mistakes, we don't hide them.
Classroom rules poster
- Write the rules on a large poster.
- Pupils illustrate them with drawings (e.g., speaking the truth, helping a classmate).
- The poster is signed (or a handprint is given as a sign of agreement).
CONCLUSION:
Collective viewing of posters.
A brief chat:
- How will these rules help us?
- How will we feel if we take them into account?
