They are all trying to acquire as much scholarship and skills as possible. In some areas they are more successful, in others less so, but the important thing is that they are aware of their value, their belonging and their existence. It is also great to see how the children are able to help each other selflessly.
Isaac, a fourth-grade pupil at primary school, is a boy who likes to do things with his father Darko. men's work, as he likes to call the time he spends with his father in and out of the workshop. So together they came up with the idea of creating something for school that Isaac could present to the class. They spent some time thinking and talking about what direction their idea could take that would be really cool and that could help them to connect a bit with the class and ultimately with the school. Of course, Mum was allowed to enter into their thought world too. Soon, all three of them had their hearts set on the idea.
They decided to make a board that would connect the children and the teachers. They also talked to the teacher, who was happy to support their project.
It all starts with an idea, but since the idea has already been given, the next step is. This is the implementation plan, which was drawn up within a few hours. Ati listened to Isaac's ideas about the board; how big it would be, what shape it would take, what would be on it, how and where it would stand, what material it should be made of, what to look out for. Among Isaac's many words, my father was able to give his thoughts and ideas, and the image of the board soon took shape. The decision to make the board wooden was the first one, and from this they then moved on. They chose a board that used to be part of a wooden cupboard. It was just right for further creation. Isaac started to decorate the board with acrylic markers. He used bright colours and drew flowers, butterflies, mathematical functions, clouds, stars, etc. His mother also helped him a little. On the left side of the board he wrote if you have it, bring it, and two hangers on which the bags can be hung are screwed underneath the sign. On the right-hand side of the board he wrote if you don't have it, take it, and two padlocks have also been placed under this sign. They also chose wooden planks, which they sanded and varnished to make the sign stable and well-supported. They also varnished the sign board and waited a few days for it to dry well. Then came the finishing touches, when the board and the planks were joined and screwed together to make the structure stable. Isaac hung a bag with the contents on one of the pegs, and then he and his father took the board to school one Monday morning.
At school, Isaac, with the help of his teacher, introduced the blackboard and its importance. This is about connecting and helping each other. If you have something you don't need, you can pass it on and make someone happy who doesn't have it but wants it. And if you don't have something, you can rummage through the bags and maybe the thing you want is hiding in there.
It's great when children can selflessly help each other. That's how they learn the right values, and that's how the world becomes a better and more caring place.
