The one I will present below stands out for the sincere commitment and heartfelt kindness of one man. It is a touching story of Mr Slavko, who has provided a safe haven for the kittens, brings them food three times a day, knows each of them by name, and has sterilised them at his own expense.
Mutual support should not only be shared between people, but also in compassion for animals that do not have a voice. This is the kind of help that Mr Slavko offers again and again every day.
The story takes place in the heart of Maribor, where gardens once flourished. Today they no longer exist, but a wooden shed remains on one of them, which belonged to Mr Slavko and his wife. Slavko converted it into a warm and safe home for the kittens, protected it from the weather and arranged styrofoam houses, soft beds and food bowls inside.
Slavko simply loves kittens. He takes those that don't have an owner as his own and cares for them with devotion. He brings them food three times a day, the first time at 6am. He brings them tinned food, briquettes and sometimes leftovers from meals he and his wife prepare for them. When someone brings extra food for the kittens, he is eternally grateful for the gesture. Slavko cares so much about the kittens that he hardly dares to go out at weekends, because he is worried that they will go hungry.
She currently cares for about nine kittens, but there are always new ones creeping around the corner, so the number is constantly changing. He distinguishes them by their colour, character and playfulness, and has given the most loyal ones the names Mamica, Straško, Tigrica, Bezrepko, Sivko, Bela and Gluha. He spends a lot of time with them and sincerely enjoys their company.
He says that every hungry animal deserves to be fed. People know Slavko for his kindness and his love for cats and other animals. As long as he can, he will take care of them, because he feels that they love him back in their own way. He also has a pet cat at home, Mikica.
Mr Slavko, with your love you have not only touched the people in your neighbourhood, but with your actions you are inspiring hearts all over Slovenia. Thank you for all that you do.
