On Thursday, December 4th, 2025, the pupils of class 8b from Škofljica Primary School went to the elderly care home in Škofljica. We prepared a basket full of chocolate sweets for the residents, adding beautiful festive thoughts, written exclusively with our own words and sincere feelings.

The idea for this lovely and heartfelt gesture arose during a class lesson, when our form tutor suggested that we, as a class, get involved in a solidarity activity to express the value of mutual aid and Affiliation communities in which and with which we live. We enthusiastically accepted the proposal and set about creating it without hesitation.
During our class activities, we carefully wrote down festive thoughts, attached them to chocolates, and decorated a basket with imagination and precision. Once it was ready, we wrapped it in festive paper and, after class, took it to the senior citizens' home located near our school, an important part of the community to which we belong. Many of our citizens live there, so we felt particularly connected and emotionally moved when visiting its residents.

On the morning of Miklavževe, December 6th, our elderly residents received a chocolate sweet with a nice thought each at breakfast. We sincerely hope that with this small, yet heartfelt gesture, we brightened their day and brought them at least a touch of festive joy.

We are aware that older people are often remembered too seldom, which is why we felt it was particularly important to dedicate our time, warmth, and sincere attention to them. Mutual support and a sense of belonging to one's local community are values that enrich both the recipient of help and the giver. In our class, we are proud to have brightened someone's day with a small gesture, as a chocolate sweet may not be much, but a kind thought and sincere attention mean a priceless gift.
