After a long wait and search, I finally got the job I dreamed of - working with young people, where I could pass on my knowledge and enthusiasm...

I was convinced that this new chapter would bring joy, creativity and the opportunity to change lives. But I soon discovered that the world where hope and young potential were supposed to be born was not without its shadows and challenges.

For the first few weeks, I went to work with unwavering faith. I worked with my energy to prepare lesson plans, to find ways to stimulate young people's curiosity and to offer them not only knowledge, but also support and a trustworthy role model. But soon the clouds were parted by reality: my manager, who was supposed to support me, did not know how to do it. Instead of being cooperative and encouraging, she judged me. Particles of mistrust, contempt and envy began to emerge among the young people, gradually transforming our days together into a daily struggle.

Every day I came to work with growing sadness. The feeling of loneliness and helplessness grew as I realised that no one was listening to me, that I was just the target of immature and selfish ambitions. Nevertheless, a gentle glimmer appeared in this darkness - a young mother from Macedonia. She was different: her religion, her clothes and her way of life separated her from the majority, but her authenticity shone through without reservation.

I have noticed that she faces real difficulties every day - transport to work, taking care of small children, which give her a sense of vulnerability and strength at the same time. One morning I noticed that I was driving past her home and in a moment of sincerity I decided to offer her a lift. Her eyes widened in surprise when she asked in amazement:

"Why are you helping me?"

I smiled calmly and replied, "Because I drive past you every day and why not make your driving easier? I see in you a sincere person who deserves support. We can share the cost if you want; if not, at least I'll have company for the two hours of driving a day."

The words sparkled in her eyes, but a moment later she added with a slight bitterness: 'I had recently asked another colleague to do the same - she agreed at first, but I soon realised that she wasn't being sincere. I always felt like a liability and eventually I said I would take public transport myself. It only hurts me that she didn't honestly tell me that she didn't need the help, of course I wouldn't have resented it."

Our first ride together was like the start of a new chapter. As we drove, we exchanged stories of life, suffering and hope. I realised that she came from a peaceful but dynamic family where respect, love and mutual support always come first. Her warm nature opened my heart and offered me the wisdom I needed at that difficult time.

Every day when we met in the car park, I felt that she was not just a colleague, but a friend, a teacher and a counsellor. With understanding and patience, she helped me to recognise and become aware of my own blockages. With her wisdom, she guided me to overcome the feelings of insecurity and victimhood that went deep into my childhood. Gradually, I began to believe in myself and, despite all the suffering, this brought the breakthrough I had been waiting for.

Even though the situation at work was getting worse, her help gave me the strength to stay true to myself. I have always remembered that honesty and selfless help are not just words, but a life principle that illuminates the darkest of days. When I decided to leave the organisation to seek new opportunities, I gratefully shared her story with the Director, who also felt that the right support was crucial in those moments.

Today, looking back, I thank the Universe that I met this extraordinary person. Her kindness taught me the importance of being honest, loyal and selflessly helping my fellow man. Every day I try to repay her kindness - whether by helping with technical challenges or by sharing home-grown food.

Her story taught me that even in the darkest moments, there is always an honesty that can survive all obstacles and change lives.
