His story has already been circulated among relatives, acquaintances and friends and has received much praise. It changed my life. It will always remain in my memory.
After 34 years and four months of working life, the ground was shaking under my feet because my company went bankrupt and I was out of a job. I was helpless, I was crying and I was struggling to find a job again at the age of 57. But luck was not stubborn and soon enough it came to me. I got a few different jobs to help me get the money I deserved. pensions. But this has not been without its problems.
The Job Centre offered me a job at the Social Work Centre. They sent me for an interview. I did not pass, my luck had run out. But why? Because the job I was offered (lay family support) required me to have my own car at least three times a week. I told them honestly that I did not have a car. My husband needed the family car every morning to visit and help my elderly mother. I would not have had the heart to deprive him of this means of transport, which he used for urgent errands.
I was looking for solutions to get a job anyway. The job centre told me to hold out until the next call for applications, because all was not lost. I was honest with them. I told them that I was also worried about how I was going to drive in the field, because I had not held a steering wheel in my hand for the last 14 years and I would have to renew my driving skills to be sure of myself. My strong wish has come true. How?
Believe it or not, a true miracle has happened. I confided my sadness about my job and my car to my brother Joško, who often came to visit me. I could not count to three when he gave me a short and clear answer: "Ma, don't worry, don't worry, my little sister. I will give you my car. I drove it a lot of kilometres when I went to Italy for work, but it is still in such good condition that you will be able to drive it around the surrounding villages. It will be good for work purposes and still durable. You will drive it to the place, and then it can go straight to the write-off. I'll bring it to you, and we'll take it for a drive to test it out."
Josko is always a man of his word. What he promises, he keeps. He brought me a car that gleamed with cleanliness. It was a yellow C3, but it wasn't showing its age. Despite the many kilometres on the odometer, the little yellow car looked like a young man. My golden brother had even bought a new battery to hand over the car to me, just like that. My brother and I went for a proud drive, which I survived, and my brother gave me the confirmation that I could still drive well and that I had nothing to fear.
I was truly born under a lucky star. My brother has proved to me many times that he is a kind-hearted soul. He has become my saviour! He pulled me out of adversity. I felt as if I had touched the sky or hit the ground. I was embraced by an indescribable feeling! Josh's old car was more than just a means of transport. It was a symbol of brotherly love, and I drove to work with warmth in my heart. It warmed me to know that I could always count on my brother.
Acts of kindness are proof of a big heart. Acts of love make the world a better place.
