Mutual aid is one of the most important values of any community.

In good times we know how to rejoice together, and in difficult times, when one of us needs help, we pull together. It is precisely then that the great importance of a kind word, a readiness to help and the support of neighbours becomes apparent.

The latter was recently demonstrated by the residents of Uršna Sela. When their fellow villagers Đevad and his wife found themselves facing a difficult trial in life, a simple and quick invitation circulated among the villagers. The instigator of the campaign was their neighbour, Maja Kolenac. They needed willing hands to help with the potato harvesting.

Shortly after the invitation was published, many fellow villagers responded. They gathered together at the railway station, from where they set off for the homestead. Without hesitation, they headed to the field, rolled up their sleeves and completed the work together. They brought containers, hoes and everything else that was needed for the work to proceed quickly and smoothly. It was particularly lovely to see that even the youngest came to help. By their example, the older ones showed them how important mutual aid, solidarity and cooperation are. With their good humour, selflessness and readiness to help, they showed that in Uršna Sela people know how to pull together when it is needed. When they finished the work, they stayed a while longer and enjoyed chatting and laughing.

The event also moved the family, who, on behalf of their grandparents, sincerely thanked everyone who took the time and rushed to help. They said that it is hard to describe how much such support means to them. In times of hardship, the feeling that you are not alone is priceless. With their actions, they showed what true community and neighbourly love mean. »May all this kindness be returned to you a hundredfold. A heartfelt thank you to everyone!« Đevad and his wife said at the end.

Such events remind us that communities are not just villages and towns, but above all the people who live there. People who know how to come together, help one another and prove that with a good heart and joint effort we can achieve a great deal. And that is precisely our greatest wealth.
