As an educator, she helped shape curious creatures into responsible and compassionate individuals with her warmth, patience and love. Although she is now retired, her mission is not over - she still lives for and with others, and her heart remains open to all who need her support.
She devotes much of her time to volunteering at a local association for individuals with disabilities. Lilijana brings them joy, encourages them to create and connects them to a community where they all feel accepted. She knows that sometimes it doesn't take much - just a sincere conversation, a shared laugh or a heart-warming song.
When she found out that The Curious Little Ant, one of her favourite childhood songs, was turning 70, she felt inspired. The author of the poem, the honourable Branko Rudolf from Konjič, left his mark on her at a young age. Now she wanted to bring his legacy closer to others.
"What if I made a real show?" she suggested. Her idea quickly found support and soon she was off and running. Every evening, she sat at her sewing machine and created a costume - a black coat with polka dots, tentacles and wings. Every detail was carefully crafted, as she wanted to make the experience unforgettable.
When the big day arrived, an audience of children, parents, members, volunteers and friends gathered in the hall. Lilijana, dressed as a mischievous ant, walked in among them. Her energy filled the room - she jumped, danced and sang the song that has been with her all her life with a sparkle in her eyes.
The hall was filled with laughter, applause and joy. The audience, made up of all generations, sang together the Serious Ant. Tears of happiness filled her eyes. She knew at that moment that her work was far from finished.
When people came to congratulate her after the performance, their words reached her heart. Someone shook her hand and said: "Thank you for reminding us that true joy knows no boundaries - neither age nor difference. Joy is for everyone."
Lilijana knew that she would live long for those who needed her. And that her mission would always be written in the hearts of the people to whom she gave a part of her heart.
