My friend Petra started the Camino Primitivo.

From the conversation we had after her return home, she had so many wonderful moments and events that she is grateful for and will remember for a lifetime. One of these events was when a friendly staff member at the station helped her to get on the bus from Santander to Oviedo, where the starting point for the Camino Primitivo is, in time.

On the first day, she flew from Treviso and there she met a Slovenian woman who was on the same plane as her. They arrived at Santander airport in Spain. From there they took the airport bus to the city centre and the bus station. Petra realised that she had very little time to catch a bus to Oviedo. If she did not, she would not have another one until two hours later, which would have put her plan to spend the first night before the start of her journey in the toilet. She was already prepared to have to find accommodation in Santander.

When they arrived at the station, they started looking for the ticket counter. Petra was already a bit scared and distressed. When she got to the counter, she found that the lady there did not speak English and Petra did not speak enough Spanish to communicate. It was Lucija, a Slovenian fellow passenger on the plane, who jumped in with her Spanish. Enough for the counter clerk to understand Petra's situation better. The only thing that could be gleaned from the lady's jokes was that she would probably miss the bus. At that moment, another employee came to the counter, speaking English. Sensing Petra's distress, she approached her and told her that she would go to the driver and ask him to wait for her. The card was bought. The lady at the counter wrote the number of the bus stop on it and called out to her in Spanish: "TECI, TECI ...".

Petra was in a hurry, her rucksack fluttering on her back. When she arrived at the bus stop, there was no bus. She gave the station attendant who helped her a grateful hug. She felt that a guardian angel had protected her right from the start of the Camino. She knew that everything would be all right, that it was important to trust and surrender. That she would be taken care of all along the way. The bus arrived and she was on her way to the starting point of the Camino. The city of Oviedo was waiting for her.

All the days on the road were pleasant, warm and heart-warming. They took place according to a better script than if she had written it herself.
