As part of the project »5 Fundamental Values of Slovenia«, we dedicated time during lessons to reflect on the fundamental values that guide individual conduct and community life.
The project's aim is for Slovenian residents to become acquainted with these values and identify with them. During the activity, pupils participated actively and creatively. First, we discussed the importance of individual values: trust and respect, honesty, mutual help, belonging, and moderation. Pupils reflected on examples from everyday life where these values are evident at school, at home, or in the community.
Based on these considerations, the students created comic strips to illustrate the importance of each value. Each group or individual student chose one value and presented it through a short story, divided into several panels. The comic strips were drawn by hand on A3 sheets, with particular attention paid to short dialogues and the depiction of everyday situations.
In the comic strips, the pupils depicted various situations: respect among classmates, fair play, mutual assistance, a sense of community belonging, and care for the environment and the future. In some parts, the pupils also presented features of our bilingual environment.

The activity allowed pupils to reflect on values in a concrete and creative way. Through drawing, discussion, and collaborative work, they better understood the importance of fundamental values not remaining mere words, but becoming part of everyday conduct.
